UnMomenStop
UnMomenStop, founded in 2019 and directed by Clara Rodríguez de Almeida, is the first studio in Uruguay specialized in stop-motion animation. Initially conceived as a research and experimentation lab in photography, illustration, and set creation, the studio later focused on stop-motion animation, seeking sustainable resources to create short films in small spaces and convey effective messages. Together with Cuenco Cine, UnMomenStop is one of the most prominent studios in the region. It offers post-production, art direction, and set dressing services for clients such as McDonald’s, Netflix, Anglo, Tienda Inglesa, and production companies in Uruguay. Since 2021, it has gained recognition throughout Latin America for its stop-motion animations. Its first major success was the music video *Las miradas perdidas*, which won the award for Best Music Video at ANIMAYO in Spain. This music video also received the Grand Jury Prize at Uruguay’s FIA Festival, becoming the first Uruguayan work to win at the event’s 17th edition. In 2022, UnMomenStop produced the music video *Pedro y Carolina*, using an innovative paper-cut aesthetic, which premiered in 2023. This project received several awards, including Best Uruguayan Short Film at the FIA Festival and Best Music Video at StopMotionMX in Mexico. Currently, the studio is in post-production on its new music video, *Amanecer*, composed by Gonzalo Varela and supported by FONAM. In addition, it is working on the short film *El Churrinche Blanco*, a project in development that has taken part in labs in Argentina, Brazil, and Mexico, further solidifying the studio’s commitment to innovation in animation.
