Some 200 applications from a wide range of film categories and formats were submitted to the Detour 2020 call for proposals.
Detour is a space that celebrates emerging and disruptive production, innovation and filmmaking creativity and promotes new production formats.
This year 2020, according to the festival’s organizers, there was a record number of entries: 200 nominations in a wide range of film categories and formats. The entries are double those of last year and come from ten departments of Uruguay and other countries, as works made by Uruguayan men and women living abroad can be submitted.
One of the main categories of the festival receives works from creators who have not made more than two feature films, or are under 40 years old. This year, works in the categories of Medium and Long films (fiction and non-fiction), Short films (fiction, non-fiction, experimental and animation), Video clips, Student videos, Series pilots and a special category for videos dealing with the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic.
Now the selection process begins, no easy task for Detour’s programming team, made up of director Martín Wozniak, film editor Lara Lopez and curator Agostina Dati.
The categories of Student Videos and the one referring to the health emergency will remain open until 7 August.
