The Uruguayan Film and Audiovisual Agency (ACAU) with the support of Uruguay XXI, together with an important delegation of national producers, will be present from May 13th to the 21st at the Marché du Film 2025. This is a market held in parallel to the Cannes Film Festival and attended by major distributors, agents, festivals, producers and international talent looking for projects.

The exponential growth of the audiovisual sector in recent years are reflected in: the sustained work in terms of policies for the development of the audiovisual sector, the international recognition of Uruguayan artistic and technical talent, the accumulated experience in the production of national works and international production services, added to the conditions offered by Uruguay as a strategic partner and film marketplace in Latin America.

This year Uruguay will have a booth at the Palais des Festivals, which will work as a meeting center, and will serve to publicize the Uruguayan audiovisual industry, promote projects, attract investment and hold meetings with international strategic partners.

Uruguay case study

Uruguay will present a Case Study at the Producers Network 2025. The presentation will take place on May 17th, at 5:30 p.m. in the bistro space, followed by a mixer activity for 200 people.

The event will consist of a presentation by Uruguay and the Dominican Republic on co-production opportunities with both countries. The case study will be the film El Silencio de Marcos Tremer, directed by Miguel García de la Calera. It will be presented by Hans García of Perseo Films (Dominican Republic), and Federico Moreira La Mayor Films (Uruguay). Institutional remarks will be made by Marianna Vargas, president of DGcine and Gisella Previtali, president of ACAU.
This example will show incentives, tax advantages, funds from both countries and how potential co-producers can benefit from working with RD and Uruguay.

Uruguayan short films in the Cannes Short Film Corner

Sinfonía del Silencio, a short film directed by Victoria Herrera and produced by Kevin Santos, will be present at the Short Film Corner 2025, the short film section of the Cannes Film Festival.

This work, winner of the 48 Hour Film Project, Uruguay 2024, was selected to participate in the Short Film Corner 2025 of the Cannes Film Festival during the Filmapalooza held in March in Seattle.

Also the short film Carlotta, directed by Cecilia Moreira Pagés, will be present in the festival. It was selected at JIIFF 2025 to participate in the above-mentioned section of the Cannes festival.

Delegation

ACAU will lead the Uruguayan delegation represented by its president, Gisella Previtali, and the head of international affairs, Marcio Migliorisi.

In addition, the delegation will be composed of about 30 professionals, including representatives of production houses, directors, programmers,
representatives of festivals, among others, who will attend the various activities in order to strengthen ties and generate opportunities for the Uruguayan film and audiovisual industry.


The Fantastic Pavillon will have the seal of Uruguay

The project Agua negra, a co-production between Chester Films & La Mayor Cine (Uruguay) and Guainot (Spain), directed by Santiago Ventura, will be present in this section.

In addition, visitors to this section will be able to see a sample of fantastic locations by Montevideo Audiovisual.

Uruguayan Video Games

Fading Luna, a Uruguayan video game produced by Luminaria Games, winner of the Maquinitas section at Ventana Sur 2024, will represent Ibero-America in this space.

Co-production meetings

During the market, meetings and co-production meetings will be held with the United Kingdom, Brazil, Brussels, Canada, Chile, Colombia, among others..

CACCI Conference

ACAU’s Head of International Affairs, Marcio Migliorisi, will be participating in the CACCI conference on the circulation of European content in Latin America, together with the University of Vienna and the Carlos III University of Spain.
