Synopsis:
José is a Spanish immigrant working as a butcher in Uruguay. When the meat ban is implemented in the early '70s, he decides to start his own business in the illegal market and achieves great success, becoming the leader of the underground trade. However, this leads to his family's involvement in the process, and his growing ambition causes a rift between him and his daughter, Rosita.
Bio Director:
Since early 2016, Bernardo and Rafael have been working as co-directors and co-writers. Among their joint projects, En el Pozo stands out as their feature film debut. The film has toured over 25 festivals. It premiered in Geneva at the 20th Filmar en Latinoamérica Festival in 2018, and was also featured at the Sitges Film Festival 2019 (Spain), the Gramado Film Festival (Brazil), where it won awards for Best Screenplay and Best Cinematography (Rafael Antonaccio), Bifan Fantastic Film Festival (South Korea), Chicago Latino Film Festival (USA), Mafici (Argentina), Fesaalp (Argentina), Fantasporto (Portugal), Splat (Poland), Macabro (Mexico), Fright Fest (Scotland), and at the Norwegian Cinematheque, among other festivals and venues.
