LA FABULA DE LA TORTUGA Y LA FLOR

When Eliana -my best friend since childhood- told me that she had terminal cancer, I suggested that we make a film together. What seems like an attempt to abolish the rules of nature becomes an emotional journey that confronts us with our own fragility. The camera goes from hand to hand as an instrument that unites adults and children, a companion and confidant that records the beauty of a cracking world. In the face of death, the meaninglessness of everyday life becomes transcendent, and love is revealed as the only thing that can sustain us.

www.carolinacampolupo.com Director and producer from Uruguay, Carolina is also Lecturer at ORT University Uruguay and co-founder of the production houses Lobo Hombre and Pájaro Dorado, both based in Uruguay. She studied Media and Communication in Uruguay, Film and Arts in the Centre for Arts in México and Experimental Documentary at University College of London. She was awarded with the FONCA-AECID scholarship for art creators in 2010 and Berlinale Talents in 2019. Her first film as director “Frozen man” (83 min., 2014) was premiered at Visions du réel - État d'Esprit Competition, and screened in more than 20 film festivals in Europe, Latin America and Asia (Best Film Award - AtlantiDoc, Transcinema Award - Festival Transcinema, Best film audience Award - ACCU, Special Mention of the jury - MAFICI). As a producer, she made the films “Not even the flowers” (54 min. Visions du reel int. competition for medium length films), “Portrait of my father” (100 min. IDFA International Competition, Best documentary film in Miami Iberoamerican Film Festival), “The flowers of my family” (75 min. Dok Leipzig, Best Latin American Film in FIDOCS), among others.
