Synopsis:
Four Lagoons follows Nico Pauls on an intimate journey through the coastal lagoons of eastern Uruguay. Along the way, encounters with artesanals fishermen, forest guardians, and local inhabitants reveal different ways of living in a territory that is as fragile as it is fascinating. Through deep conversations and hypnotic landscapes, the film invites viewers to fall in love with these unique ecosystems and to reflect on the urgent need to preserve them before their essence is lost forever.

Bio Director:
M A T Í A S A M E G L I O D I R E C T O R From an early age, I felt drawn to art in general. My father, a lover of music, photography, and cinema, played a major role in shaping that passion. Around the age of 20, I began working at the production company Salado, where I continue to work to this day. There, I became involved in all areas related to audiovisual production, especially cinematography, a craft I practiced for several years. This work took me to different cities around the world, such as Los Angeles, Paris, and Sydney, among others. After that, I decided to fully dedicate myself to direct my own commercial short films. Over the years, I have directed numerous projects, most of them linked to advertising. In 2022, I filmed Mar de Lobos, my first feature-length film, which won “Best Documentary” at the Mafici Festival in Argentina (among others). It was also the first project in which I was involved in a fully integral way, as director, screenwriter, cinematographer, and editor. In 2025 I did the same with "Four Lagoons"
