Carmine accesses the world of the versatile creator Sofía Saunier, a transvestite filmmaker who portrays her community, and Carmen, an old woman with no memory who spends most of the day in bed. A story of physical and emotional displacement, framed in a powerful invisible social portrait.

He has directed five feature-length documentaries and the fiction La Espera, premiered at the San Sebastián Film Festival. His works have received more than 30 international awards, including the Teddy Award at the Berlin Film Festival, Best Director at the Viña del Mar Film Festival and the Félix Award at the Rio de Janeiro Film Festival. Spotlights and retrospectives have been dedicated to his work at the BAFICI in Buenos Aires in 2006, at the Rosario Latin American Film Festival (Argentina) 2011, at the Cineteca Nacional de México in 2016 and at the Santiago International Documentary Festival FIDOCS ( Chile) 2016. He has directed dozens of unitary programs and report cycles for television. For his television work he was recognized as the best director of Uruguayan television in 2001 and 2002. He has been a jury at the Havana, Lima and FIDOCS festivals in Santiago; and tutor of the DOCTV Latin America scriptwriting workshops in their 2011 and 2013 versions.
