Bio Director:

Clara Rodríguez de Almeida is a visual artist, born and based in Uruguay. She is the founder and director of UnMomenStop studio, the first Uruguayan space specialized in the production of stop motion projects. Throughout her career, she has been recognized as the first Uruguayan to win the Grand Jury Prize at the Festival Internacional de Animación Uruguayo (FIA). Clara graduated in Fine and Visual Arts and Photography from the Faculty of Arts (UDELAR). Among other educational achievements, she pursued studies in Theater Design at the EMAD (Escuela Multidisciplinaria de Arte Dramático). She has specialized her training in stop motion under the guidance of renowned professionals in the field, such as Sergio Pyñeiro, stop motion photography director (Argentina); Michel Amado, stop motion photography director (Mexico); Matías Liebrecht, senior stop motion animator (Brazil); and Becho and Mab, members of the Can Can Club (Argentina), among others. Although her professional career features various works in animation as a director, scriptwriter, and animator, her journey as a producer of stop motion short films began in 2016 with the creation of El Encuentro (The Encounter), a short film that was part of the exhibition cycle of the Miguel Ángel Pareja Room at the Instituto de Bellas Artes (Institute of Fine Arts) that same year. In 2020, out of other short films, she premiered her short film 8M. As a visual artist, she has created several pictorial and photographic works, including a portrait of Olivar Sena Rodríguez, which was part of the exhibition Encontrarte con ellos (Meeting Them), displayed at the Juan Manuel Blanes Museum in 2022. In cinema, she participated in the art direction of the short film Cuántas mujeres soy cuando despierto (How Many Women Am I When I Wake Up) in 2021, and in 2022, she worked as a production designer on the Netflix film Togo, directed by Adrián Caetano. This film ranked in the global top 10 of the most-watched movies on the platform. In the scope of series and documentaries, she worked as an animator and art director in 2021 on the educational fiction series CLOBA. In 2020, she directed and produced the web series of video tutorials Stop Motion: una historia que animar (Stop Motion: A Story to Animate) for the Ministry of Education and Culture. Regarding music videos, in 2021, she wrote, directed, scripted, and produced the stop motion video Las Miradas Perdidas (The Lost Gazes), accompanying the song of the same name by Lali Gaspari. This work received multiple international awards at festivals such as SMOF, ANIMA LATINA, Animayo, FIA, among others. In 2023, she premiered Pedro y Carolina, a music video for the group Canciones sin Hogar (Homeless songs), in collaboration with singer Ana Prada. This video won the award for Best Uruguayan Short Film at the FIA (International Animation Festival) and Best Music Video at the StopmotionMX festival (Mexico). Additionally, she has worked as an art director on music videos for artists such as No Te Va Gustar, La Teja Pride, DOSTRESCINCO, and others. In 2025, her next music video will premiere, accompanying a composition by Gonzalo Varela and performed by the renowned cellist Tina Guo (United States). In this video, titled Amanecer (Dawn), Clara took charge of the script, direction, production, and execution. In the theatrical field, she has created set designs, paintings, and animated projections. Some examples include set designs for the El Galpón theater, independent plays such as Zorba and Kazantzakis, and carnival productions with Los Jokers. Clara is a passionate advocate for spreading and sharing the stop motion animation technique, whether in local educational centers, where she gives talks at middle schools or universities, or internationally, such as her presentation at the SMOF 2023 festival in Buenos Aires. She also offers courses in art direction or animation, aimed at students of different ages.
