Synopsis:
"Los Tontos are a moment destined to endure." – Rosana Malaneschii In November 2022, at Sala Zitarrosa, El Gavilán spearheads a tribute concert to Los Tontos, the most irreverent 1980s Uruguayan rock band. What begins as a tribute transforms into an unlikely endeavor: rekindling a musical connection put on hold for more than three decades. From different countries, Trevor Podargo (drums) and Calvin Rodríguez (guitar) rebuild that connection, bridged across distance and marked by the absence of Renzo Teflón (bass and vocals), who passed away in 2018. Far from nostalgia, Afilo mi Gillette follows the pulse of a bond that survives time and explores the phenomenon of Los Tontos: a group that, in the post-dictatorship years, chose irony, humor, and absurdity as forms of protest and resistance. Built from interviews, unseen archival footage, and a process of research, restoration, and preservation, the documentary not only revisits the legacy of this mythical band, but also brings it closer to new generations. Projected onto the stage, Renzo Teflón reappears with his classic dark sunglasses and intact smile, as if looking on from another time. Trevor and Calvin reconstruct the spirit of the band through memory. A farewell, a redemption, and the certainty that what was once unsettling… never stopped resonating.
